PHILADELPHIA, PA − December 17, 2025 − State Senator Sharif Street, Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW), State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta, Councilmember Jeffery Young Jr., and the Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA), are proud to have successfully hosted LIHEAP Day on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Sullivan Progress Plaza, located at 1501 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122.
This special event provided in-person assistance to help Philadelphia residents apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which offers eligible households up to $1,000 toward heating bills. Attendees also received support with Crisis Applications, the Customer Responsibility Program (CRP), PGW Hardship Funds, and other essential services. Neighborhood Energy Centers (NECs) will be on-site to help residents sign up and understand available resources.
“Our LIHEAP Day was a tremendous success, and I’m grateful to everyone who came out to get the assistance they need and deserve. Too many families struggle to keep up with rising utility costs, especially during the winter months. Events like this ensure that no one is left behind. I’m proud of our community partners and our dedicated staff for working together to connect residents with critical resources that help keep their homes warm and safe.” – Senator Sharif Street
“It was wonderful to see PGW and our neighborhood energy centers providing in-person LIHEAP grant application assistance to low-income Philadelphians. Each year, around 100,000 residents are eligible for up to $1,000 to help with their heating bills, and events like this ensure that every household can access the resources available to them. A special thank you to the Strawberry Mansion NAC and Hunting Park NAC for participating this year. Community members were also able to get help applying for PGW’s Customer Responsibility Program (CRP) and hardship funds.” – Councilman Jeffery Young Jr.
